 夏天到了，今天說說與 summer 有關(guān)的短語(yǔ)和說法； 每次說到 summer，我都會(huì)想起13年前的那部片子 500 Days of Summer，中文名叫《和莎莫的500天》；  一部超現(xiàn)實(shí)主義的愛情片，講述著最簡(jiǎn)單的道理：在愛情中，無(wú)論是被傷害還是被錯(cuò)愛，總能成就不一樣的人生經(jīng)歷，正應(yīng)了那句： Sometimes when people grow, they grow apart. 有時(shí)候，人長(zhǎng)大了，就分開了。 欣賞幾張電影海報(bào)：      1. an Indian summer An Indian summer 不能直譯為"印度的夏天"，它指冬天來臨之前短暫的回暖，即我們通常說的"秋老虎"；也引申為漫長(zhǎng)悲傷前的短暫幸福； ??：September is usually chilly, But this year we are expecting an Indian summer. 九月通常較為寒冷，但今年我們可能會(huì)經(jīng)歷一個(gè)秋老虎。  2. a cold day in July July (七月)的天氣總是熱的，所以，a cold day in July 是不存在的，因此，這個(gè)短語(yǔ)是用來表示不太可能發(fā)生的事，相當(dāng)于"除非太陽(yáng)從西邊出來"的說法； ??：It'll be a cold day in July before I lend you money again. 讓我再借你錢，除非太陽(yáng)從西邊出來。 這個(gè)說法還可以換成 a cold day in hell，于中國(guó)神話中的地府不同，西方文化中的地獄是熱的。 3. full of hot air 這個(gè)短語(yǔ)用來形容那些經(jīng)常說謊，說廢話的人； ??：You can't believe a word that guy says, he is full of hot air. 你不要相信那個(gè)人說的每個(gè)字，他總是胡言亂語(yǔ)。 4. the calm before the storm 這個(gè)說法可以直譯，意思就是"暴風(fēng)雨前的寧?kù)o"，指重大活動(dòng)或者災(zāi)難前的平靜； ??：Everyone was silent, But it was the calm before the storm. 大家都一言不發(fā)，不過，這只是暴風(fēng)雨前的寧?kù)o。  5. under the sun 字面意思"太陽(yáng)底下"，實(shí)際引申為天底下或者全世界； ??：This is the largest castle under the sun. 這是世界上最大的城堡。 6. be in hot water Hot water (熱水) 這里比喻麻煩之事，be in hot water 就是陷入麻煩，be in trouble 的意思； ??：He is in hot water after he's admitted he has an affair with that girl. 他承認(rèn)與那女孩有曖昧關(guān)系后，現(xiàn)在有麻煩了。 7. dog days of summer dog days of summer 指七月末到九月間最熱的日子； ??：The dog days are over and the children are going back to school. 最熱的天氣結(jié)束了，孩子要返校了。  △古希臘人觀察到，天狼星(Sirus)，俗稱 dog star，是大犬座最亮的星，在七月底會(huì)出現(xiàn)在太陽(yáng)旁邊；古希臘人認(rèn)為大犬座星結(jié)合使得七月底開始了一年中最熱的時(shí)候。 8. soak up the sun soak 為"浸泡" ，所以這個(gè)說法意思就是"日光浴"； ??：I want to lie on the beach and soak up some sun. Hopefully I will get a tan. 我想在沙灘上日光浴，那我就有機(jī)會(huì)曬黑一點(diǎn)了。  9. summer fling fling 本義為短暫的戀愛，summer fling 就是指打發(fā)夏天無(wú)聊時(shí)光的戀愛； ??：Susan had her first summer fling with a boy from summer camp, but thankfully it wasn't too serious. 蘇珊和夏令營(yíng)的一個(gè)男孩子談戀愛了，不過，好在他們沒當(dāng)真。 10. It is not summer until the cricket sings. 這是源自古希臘的一句諺語(yǔ)，字面意思即實(shí)際意思：直到蟋蟀鳴叫，夏天才算開始了； 這似乎與另一句諺語(yǔ) One swallow does not make a summer (看見一只燕子并不代表夏天到來) 有點(diǎn)矛盾哈！ |
