get high hat 擺架子

bleeding heart 老好人（＝ kind man）

He was accused of being a bleeding heart on welfare issues．

give sb． a hand 提供幫助

pull one's leg 開某人玩笑

You're always pulling my leg．

go for broke 放手一搏，孤注一擲

I'll go for broke in this exam．

add up 講得通（＝make sense）

His story just doesn't add up． He must be lying．

jump to conclusion 倉(cāng)促地下結(jié)論

Don't jump to conclusions． I will prove myself．

round to the clock 夜以繼日地

The ambulance services worked round to the clock．

have an ace in the hole 底牌，殺手锏

Tom seems awfully confident． He must have an ace in the hole．

in the bag 穩(wěn)操勝券

We have the deal in the bag． The client came in this morning to sign the agreement．
