a difficult situation from which there is no escape

無法擺脫的困境（進(jìn)退維谷的局面）。

典故：

根據(jù)第二十二條軍規(guī) 的規(guī)定，精神失常的人是不準(zhǔn)上天飛行的，但只能由他本人提出申請(qǐng)。于是就產(chǎn)生了如下邏輯：如果你瘋了，只要你申請(qǐng)就允許你停飛。可你一旦提出申請(qǐng)，說明精神挺正常的，不是真瘋，還得接著飛。
