Today's amazing person is Benny Lewis, the creator of Fluent In 3 Months, one of the most influential language learning blogs on the web. He's also the author of the book Fluent In 3 Months, in which he explains his system for learning any language within 3 months. 今天要介紹的這個很了不起的人物，叫做本尼·路易斯，網(wǎng)絡(luò)上最有影響力的語言學(xué)習(xí)博客之一——“三個月流利說”的創(chuàng)始人，也是同名書籍《三個月流利說》的作者，介紹了他一套他的關(guān)于如何在三個月內(nèi)學(xué)好一門新的語言的體系。
Benny is either conversational or fluent in over 10 different languages. His life definitely inspires me to want to learn more languages! One of the key ideas of his system is that when you first start learning a language, you need to start speaking immediately! Don't be afraid of making mistakes, just jump in! 本尼精通和能交流使用的語言加起來達(dá)10種以上。他無疑地激勵了我，想要學(xué)習(xí)更多的外語！他的體系中提到，學(xué)習(xí)一門新的語言的關(guān)鍵就是——不要怕犯錯，盡快開口說出來！
One of his favorite ways to practice new languages is by chatting with native speakers on Skype. He's got so many language partners that he actually made this video together with them! It's a really inspiring video. 其中一個他最愛的練習(xí)語言的方法，就是通過Skype和母語人士聊天。他和很多這些說不同語言的小伙伴們一起做了一個視頻——一個非常鼓舞人的視頻。

Benny's Story 本尼的故事
I’m not gifted with languages. I don’t have the “l(fā)anguage gene” (if such a thing exists). 我并不是一個有語言天賦的人，我沒有”語言基因“（如果真有語言基因這種東西存在的話）
How do I know? 你問我怎么知道的？
I struggled with languages for years. 因為我曾經(jīng)被語言這種東西困擾了許多年！
At school, I spent 11 years studying Irish (Gaeilge) and 5 years studying German. Even after all this study, I still couldn’t speak them. 在學(xué)校的時候，我花了11年的時間學(xué)習(xí)愛爾蘭語（蓋爾語），花了5年的時間學(xué)習(xí)德語，但這么多年的時間過去了，我依然沒辦法說出口。 By the time I reached my 20’s I could still only speak English. 然后我都20幾歲了，卻依然只會說英文。
After college, I moved to Spain. “If I’m living in another country, I’ll be sure to pick up the language,” I reasoned. I spent six months in Spain. I took expensive language classes. I studied every day. I repeated the same words and phrases over and over. 大學(xué)畢業(yè)以后，我搬到了西班牙。“如果我住在別的國家，我肯定能學(xué)到那里的外語，”我這樣推論過。于是我在西班牙呆了6個月，我報了昂貴的語言班，每天去上課，一遍又一遍的重復(fù)的那些單詞。
But I still couldn’t actually speak Spanish. 但！是！我還是不會說西班牙語…
While in Spain, I met a guy who changed my life. He was at an international party, switching from one language to another as he moved between guests. 在西班牙的時候，我遇到了一個改變了我人生的人，當(dāng)時是在一個國際派對上，他穿梭在賓客中，不停地切換著不同的外語，與人們交談著。
“How do you do it?” I asked. “你是怎么做到的？”我問道。
He explained that to speak a language, you’ve just got to start speaking it. There’s no magic, he said. You only need a willingness to make mistakes. 他解釋說，要會說一門語言，你就應(yīng)該真的開口去說這門語言。“沒有什么神奇的方法”，他說，“而是你要有不怕犯錯的決心！” I tried his advice, and I’ve never looked back since. 我就試著像他說的那樣去做，然后真的就再也停不下來了！
Within six months, I was a confident Spanish speaker. I then moved to Italy, where I started speaking Italian. 6個月的時間里，我能很自信地去說西班牙語，然后我就搬去了意大利開始學(xué)習(xí)意大利語。
I’ve since lived in the United States, France, Brazil, Ireland, Germany, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Belgium, the Netherlands, China and Taiwan. While living in these countries, I’ve used my techniques to become fluent in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Esperanto. I also speak Mandarin Chinese, American Sign Language, Dutch and Irish to a conversational level. 我后來在美國、法國、巴西、愛爾蘭、德國、阿根廷、秘魯、哥倫比亞、比利時、荷蘭、中國以及臺灣地區(qū)都住過一段時間。我在這些地方的時候，就會用我學(xué)到的語言技巧，把西班牙語、法語、德語、意大利語、葡萄牙語以及世界語，都能說得流利起來。而且我還能用中文、美國手語、荷蘭語以及愛爾蘭語達(dá)到自由交流的水平。
Learning languages has given me confidence in conversations, new friends and insight into other cultures. It’s opened up new worlds for me. I set up this community so others can have the same experience. 學(xué)習(xí)新的語言給了我在交流溝通方面的自信、新的朋友和深入其他文化的洞察力。它為我打開了一扇新世界的大門，我開創(chuàng)這個社區(qū)就是希望其他人也能有同樣的體驗。
