你知道如何用英語表示漢語的“身體”嗎?許多同學(xué)一想到“身體”兩字，很可能只會(huì)聯(lián)想到英語中的body。但事實(shí)上，漢語中說的“身體”有時(shí)可以用body來表示，有時(shí)是不能用body來表示的。具體說來，應(yīng)注意以下幾點(diǎn)：

如： 

You can imprison my body but not my mind. 

你可以禁錮我的身體但不能禁錮我的精神。

His body is old but his mind is young. 

他身體雖然老了，但心還很年輕。

注：要表示漢語中的“身心”，英語通常說成body and mind，其詞序可以顛倒，即也可說成mind and body。

如： 

The girl is pure in body and mind. 

這姑娘身心純潔。

He feels weary in body and mind. 

他感到身心疲勞。

She is sound in body and mind [mind and body]. 

她身心健康。

另外注意，body and soul也可連用構(gòu)成習(xí)語，不過其意不是“身心”，而是“全心全意地”“完完全全地”，在句中用作副詞。

如： 

He loves her body and soul. 

他真心實(shí)意愛她。

He does his work body and soul. 

他全心全意地工作。

如： 

My body was all aches and pains. 

我渾身疼痛。

He wore clothes to keep his body warm. 

他穿衣服以暖和身子。

He was badly burned on the face and body. 

他的臉部和身上都嚴(yán)重?zé)齻?/span>

Aspirin is quickly absorbed by [into] the body. 

阿司匹林很快被身體吸收了。

The body quickly adjusts (itself) to changes in temperature. 

身體迅速(自行)調(diào)節(jié)以適應(yīng)氣溫的變化。

如： 

He is in good health. / He is healthy. 

他身體健康。

Keep healthy, study well and work well. 

身體好，學(xué)習(xí)好，工作好。

What matters most is good health. 

最要緊的是有個(gè)好的身體。

You should pay more attention to your health. 

你要更注意身體。

If you took more exercise, you might feel healthier. 

如果你多鍛煉，你可能會(huì)感到身體更好。

I do a lot of walking, which keeps me fit. 

我經(jīng)常走很多路，這使我保持身體健康。

If you were in better health, we’d have let you go with us. 

你要是身體好一點(diǎn)，我們就讓你和我們一道去了。

注：有些漢語中的“身體”，在英語中無需用特定的詞來表達(dá)，可考慮將其隱在一定的上下文中。如：

Take care of yourselves. 

希望你們注意身體。

How do you feel? / How are you feeling? 

你身體感覺怎么樣?

How have you been keeping? 

你的身體一向如何?

I’ll look in this evening to see how she is. 

我今晚去探望她一下，看她身體如何。

I’ve got my medical (examination) on Thursday. 

我星期四進(jìn)行了身體檢查。

Being well taken care of, she recovered quickly. 

她受到很好的照顧，身體恢復(fù)得很快。
