Mr. Jones had a big tree in his garden ,and the children had tied a long rope to one of the branches ,so that they could swing on it . Mr. Jones saw the professor stop when he waw the rope and looked carefully up and down the road .When he saw that there was nobody in sight ,he stepped into the garden (there was no fence), put his umbrella ,newspaper ,bag and hat neatly on the grass and grasped the rope. He pulled it hard to see whether it was strong enough to take his weight ,then ran as fast as he could and swung into the air on the end of the rope ,his grey hair blowing all around his face .Backwards and forwards he swung ,sometimes taking a few more running steps on the grass when the rope began to swing too slowly for him . At last the professor stopped ,straightened his tie ,combed his hair carefully ,put on his hat ,picked up his umbrella,newspaper and bag ,and continued on his way to the university ,looking as quiet and correct and respectable as one would expect a professou to be .
瓊斯先生的花園里有一棵大樹，孩子們?cè)谝粋€(gè)樹杈上栓了一根長(zhǎng)繩子用來蕩秋千，瓊斯先生看到教授停下來，教授看到了繩子，他向路的兩邊望了望，看到?jīng)]有人，他就走進(jìn)花園【沒有圍欄】把他的傘，報(bào)紙，背包，帽子整齊的擺放在草地上，然后抓住繩子用力拉了拉看是否能承受他的體重，然后抓住繩頭拼命跑使身體蕩在空中，他的灰色頭發(fā)飄蕩在臉前，前后擺蕩，當(dāng)擺動(dòng)慢下來時(shí)，他還助跑幾步來增大擺動(dòng)幅度，教授終于停了下來，仔細(xì)的整一整領(lǐng)帶，理一理頭發(fā)，帶上帽子，拿起傘，報(bào)紙，和包，繼續(xù)走向?qū)W校，看上去穩(wěn)重，正直和受尊重，就像人們 . |
