Good for them. At least some countries dont close programs that are going to benifit the human race. I hope they get to mars first and colonize it so we americans will be stuck with good ole greenhouse earth. God Speed china!

I love my country and would love to see the United States lead the way into space exploratio?n. That said ... as long as humanity claws its way from our beautiful cradle, I do not care who takes the essential steps. Perhaps it will take another nation to leave Eden.

Yes, it would be terrible for a scientific institutio?n, which relies on objective specialist?s, engineers and scientists?, to turn away highly educated and experience human resources for entirely subjective reasons.

It is expected that China will put a man on the moon by 2020 and that the U.S will shut down its space program. It is all about resources, and right now, China has them. Unless the U.S finds its way out of the mess it is in, its global position will continue to decline, and room will be made for a new economic super power.

Wrong and wrong. China is targeting no earlier than 2025 for manned lunar landing. Considerin?g their tardiness so far in carrying out their ambitious 2011 manifest, that schedule could slip. The U.S. will not "shut down its space program". We will restructur?e our program post-Shutt?le, and the transition will take a few years to play out. The U.S. will have a vibrant space program on the other end, for sure.

I don't think so, but even if China does eventually become a space power comparable to the United States, it will take at least 20 years (if ever). Ten years from now, China will still be working toward their first manned lunar landing.
