4. 比較：on earth & in the world，兩者用法大致相同，即用于最高級后，表示“在世界上”或“在人間”；用于疑問詞后，表示“究竟”、“到底”；用于否定詞后，表示“一點(diǎn)也不”。如：

This is the longest river on earth [in the world]. 這是世界上最長的河。

What on earth [in the world] do you need? 你究竟需要什么(from www.)?
